Pisces moon and sun

Learning the difference between the sun and moon in a sign is an important step in your journey with astrology. I’m going to point out a few differences with sun and moon in Pisces.

The sun is intentional and aspirational. It’s how you see yourself and it’s the basis for your identity in this life.

The moon is your wiring, your essential nature. It’s the temperament you developed over many lives so it is steeped in karmic history. You’re often not even aware that you are expressing your moon because there is no thought involved. It’s reactions.

A Pisces sun has chosen to become a more compassionate and intuitive person in this life and may even imagine that they are. They want to see themselves this way.

They often want to make a difference and be a hero, they want to rescue people and can even be drawn to first responder jobs so they literally are saving people.

Pisces suns have a need to believe that they are saving you and can get frustrated if you don’t take their great advice. There’s always an ego identification with the sun. They want to be the reason your life just got better. Some tend towards a messiah complex, martyrdom and can be prone to self pity. Saving the world is hard stuff.

There are various reasons why someone would choose a Pisces sun. For example, a Pisces sun with an Aries moon is someone who’s history is deeply steeped in their own experience and in this life they are learning that they can become something beyond their own experience. They can become whatever they imagine themselves to be.

A Pisces moon tends to be naturally compassionate and empathic. The moon is auto pilot, what we do without thinking, Pisces moons soak up how others feel and often act onwhat they are picking up and not even realize they are doing so.

A Pisces moon has a chameleon quality and may seem fake or disingenuous when they are really just being what is needed in the moment.

They are naturally imaginative and can also imagine that people feel differently than they do or are different than how they really are. There’s a balance to navigate between being imaginative in a healthy way or sliding into deluding themselves.

When looking at the sun in your chart, remember that it is about this life, this incarnation. It’s your ego, identity, who you believe you are, who you intend to be.

The moon is about how deep karmic history. You’ve developed these automatic ways of reacting that are ingrained in you.

If your sun and moon are the same sign then you didn’t come in desiring to change how you see yourself. It’s more that you’re trying to be a better version of yourself.

If your sun and moon are different, consider why you may want to use the history of your moon to become your sun.

☀️🌙

So what’s the difference between having the sun in a sign and the moon in a sign?

💫 The sun and moon are distinctly different energies and they express themselves differently in the sign they are in.

🌟 Does this post help you see the difference? Can you see how your sun sign would be expressed differently as a moon sign and visa versa?

🙈 If your sun and moon signs are the same, you may be confused by this post 😂 that’s normal. Mine are in the same sign and in my early days of learning astrology I was unsure what was because of my moon and what was an expression of my sun. It took a while for me to get it.

🤔 If yours are in different signs, see if you can come up with at least one reason why you’d choose your sun sign given the history of your moon sign.

Fill in the blanks:

I am trying to learn to be (sun) in this life and my history is (moon).

Moon synastry and other fun facts

Moon contacts in synastry is one way of seeing karmic connections between people.

Moon

These connections can show shared experiences in other lives between the two people or they can show karmic issues with mom that are being stimulated by the relationship.

Either way, moon contacts in synastry show that your relationship with that person reaches into your karmic past.

I use the same orbs for synastry as I do natal aspects: 7 degrees for conjunction, square, trine opposition and 3 degrees for sextile and quincunx. Looser aspects are read a little differently than tighter ones.

I often get questions about why I use the orbs I do. Bottom line is that in my 40+ year experience reading thousands of charts, wider orbs do not convey the specific aspect meaning.

Remember, everything in your chart is connected even if isn’t aspected. This is why the deep and specific meaning of any placement comes from the context of the whole chart.

Every placement is a part of the whole that is you. It may be easier to see how pieces that share house or sign placements have a connection, just know that your life is the connection between in your chart.

For example, your north node may not aspect anything, but there is a thread of connection to it throughout your chart because it’s where you are heading in this life and everything in your chart has a play in that.

So much to explore about the moon in your chart. Swipe above for some comments on synastry and aspects.

🌙 The moon is historical, irrational, and part of your essential nature. If you have any Cancer placements in your chart, you may tend to hang on to issues and beliefs associated with that part of yourself. This also goes for whichever house Cancer rules in your chart.

Supermoon Eclipse May 2022

So excited about a special cool weirdness this year 💫🌕✨

First a few quick facts about the upcoming trifecta on Sunday night, 15 May 2022 (around 11:30pm ET)

  • Full moon
  • Supermoon
  • Lunar eclipse

The upcoming full moon is also a lunar eclipse and will occur close to the moon’s perigee, making it a supermoon.

Perigee is the point when the moon is closest to the earth, so the moon appears about 7% bigger than average.

There are actually TWO total lunar eclipses this year. That’s unusual. The next is in early November with a Scorpio sun and Taurus moon.

The really extra weird fascinating thing is that both eclipses will last 84 minutes. Their total duration differes only by 4 seconds.

This is the most balanced pair of lunar eclipses in 430 years.

aspects

Moon square Venus

In karmic astrology, your natal chart is read as a painting of your past lives. The beliefs, talents, struggles, goals … all that you bring into this life is connected to experiences in other lives.

Squares to the moon in a natal chart are often challenging, because they show past life conflicts with family, feeling cared for and even survival. Squares create a forced awareness and there’s almost a competition between the two energies.

Moon square Venus is an especially challenging aspect to deal with in relationships. Please know that people with this can have loving, lasting relationships. I’ve seen it. Don’t despair if you have this, or any other thing in your chart that someone has told you is bad.

When someone tells you something in your chart is hopeless, they have shown you that their understanding of astrology and experience reading charts is limited.

Why does this Venus/Moon square show up? There’s karmic history where your values and emotional needs were at odds with each other. This could have played out in many ways. For example, marrying for money or someone your family forced on you.

The moon is also food and survival, so your karmic past could include doing things to survive that went against your values. Sometimes people with this aspect think they are horrible people, when they haven’t done anything really terrible in this life.

If you have this, you may struggle with feeling fulfilled in life and even wonder what it feels like to be truly satisfied. The more you can own your values, act with integrity and open yourself up emotionally (even when it’s hard) the more you will become aware of what this aspect is teaching you and learn how the energies can work together.

The square doesn’t doom you, it’s a window into some wounds that need healing so that you can joyfully live your life.

November 2021 New Moon

This new moon is happening on November 4th at 5:14pm ET at 12 degrees of Scorpio. I love that’s it at 12 degrees, because 12 is such a magical number. Perfect for a Scorpio new moon. Twelve is the one of self combined with the two of relationship that adds to a three, the number of creative self-expression, communication, and divine time where past, present and future exist together.

As if the 12 magic wasn’t enough for the new moon, it exactly opposes Uranus at 12 degrees of Taurus and Uranus always brings sparkle and surprise.

Looking at the whole of it, I feel like this new moon offers an opportunity to demonstrate a deeper level of self acceptance by doing something that you have been too scared to do.

Surprise yourself! Look inside, look at the scary stories your mind tells you about yourself and choose to trust yourself. Choose to move through the fear and into deeper self-acceptance, then DO SOMETHING. It can be a little thing or big thing, just something that you have been telling yourself that you are not _________ enough to do it.

Maybe you’ve been telling yourself that you’re not smart enough, pretty enough, loved enough … whatever it is, believe that you are already enough.

It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been scared, or how many times you could have already made this shift, what matters is that you can make it now. You can trust yourself now. You can accept yourself more deeply now.

Wield some of that mystical magical Scorpio energy for yourself and let the scary self-talk fade.

Have a beautiful new moon away

October 2021 Full Moon

This full moon is exact on Wednesday, October 20th at 10:57am ET. The moon is in Aries opposite the Libra sun, both at 27 degrees.

The cosmic mirror of this full moon is reflecting back to us our part in our lessons. It’s about being willing to acknowledge our karmic patterns that play out in relationships, or that we attribute to relationships, so that we can heal them.

It’s tempting to look at our pain or struggles and focus on something outside of ourselves. This is especially true with relationships. She lied. He cheated. They wouldn’t recognize my value, etc.

Yes! People are 100% responsible for their actions. This isn’t about excusing anyone or blaming victims.

I’m talking about owning your part in every encounter and relationship. That includes your choices, your fears, your insecurities, your needs, your gifts … everything you bring to relationships, including your expectations, fantasies, hopes, dreams, and agendas.

This full moon is an invitation to look at relationships in your life and instead of focusing on what they did or didn’t do, look at you. Look at what feelings, fears, and beliefs come up in you.

Instead of thinking about how you wish they would change, be open to owning what scares you, what hurts you, what beliefs keep you from seeing how lovable you are.

Seeing your own patterns is a huge first step in changing them. If you’re not ready to change, that’s okay. It’s okay to recognize something and not be ready to take action. The recognition is important. Too often we ignore facing truth because we aren’t ready to then take action. Be gentle with yourself and know that just being willing to see things differently is brave and valuable.

If you are ready to make a shift, the wind is at your back. You’ve got this.

Have a beautiful full moon.

October 2021 New Moon

This new moon is exact on October 6th at 7:05am ET. It’s in Libra and is conjunct the sun and Mars all at 13 Libra and this trio is quincunx Uranus at 13 degrees.

So the energy of thirteen really colors this new moon. Thirteen is such a cool number.

As you most likely already know, thirteen is a very witchy number. It’s the one of self using the 3 of mind body spirit, to create a 4 of traditional nurturing and control. It isn’t aggressive, but it sets the table to get a desired result.

This new moon feels like an excellent time to emotionally connect in a deep way to what you want, especially when it comes to parts of yourself that you have kind of suppressed, ignored, or held back in some way because you didn’t feel like you had the freedom to really embrace and accept this part of yourself.

It’s also a time to look at how partnerships can support your desires and ambitions and how they can also limit your freedom. Being connected to others includes making agreements with them, and those agreements often have to get renegotiated over time. The circumstances of our lives change, we grow, evolve and change, and so relationships have to shift and change.

When you make any change within yourself, the people around you are required to make some sort of adjustment. The same is true for you. It can be tempting to want to keep people just as they are, for better or worse, because if they stay the same it gives us the option of staying the same.

So this new moon is also an invitation to not only support your desires and ambitions, but also to be open to allowing your partners and people you are close with to grow and expand and trust that you can adjust to who they need to be.

I’m going into to this new moon with the intention of increased clarity of both what I most want in life now and how I can stay true to going after what I want while supporting those closest to me as they go after what they want.

Have a beautiful new moon.

September 2021 Full Moon

This full moon is exact on Monday 20 September 2021 at 7:55pm ET and this great cosmic mirror is bringing a huge opportunity this month. Huge.

I’m looking at the full moon happening at 28 degrees and the exact Jupiter Mercury trine at 23 degrees, and what this all shows is an amazing opportunity to recognize a karmic pattern that you are repeating again in this life and have a breakthrough moment where you see it, know it and you’re done.

You can stop repeating it. You can get out of the loop, jump off the wheel. Allow yourself a moment of grace where you see and do things differently.

How do you do this? It’s an opportunity to deal with regret by being so completely honest with yourself that you get it in a way you never have before. It’s like looking at yourself in the mirror and while doing so you look yourself straight in the eye. No hiding, avoiding, pretending … no guilt, no beating yourself up … none of these distractions. You are totally and wholly honest and something finally falls into place. You get it so clearly that you can finally move on and start fresh.

Having a conversation with yourself in your head is perfectly fine, though I’m going to urge you to take it a step farther. Do something to bring the thoughts into the material world for release. At a minimum, talk aloud. Have the conversation with yourself out loud so the words are spoken. You could also journal, write a letter to yourself, talk to some else, try to do something to communicate whatever feelings come up for you. You can even send me a DM and tell me what you release. However you do it, take some kind of step to move it out of you to fully acknowledge and release it.

A great intention going into this full moon is to be open to releasing repetitive karmic patterns to experience and express your highest good.

Have a beautiful full moon.

September 2021 New Moon

The new moon is exact on 6 September 2021 at 8:52pm ET. It’s happening at 14 degrees of Virgo ♍️ and will exactly trine Uranus at 14 degrees of Taurus ♉️

What a great opportunity to surprise yourself or embrace unexpected support. Opportunities may come in ways you haven’t imagined, but have great value. Be open to seeing yourself and others differently.

New moons are excellent opportunities for emotional self-acceptance and this one may do so in an unusual way. I hope it does.

Have a beautiful new moon 🌙

August 2021 Full Moon

This months full moon is exact on Sunday, 22 August at 8:02am ET. It’s at 29 degrees of Aquarius and Jupiter is along for the ride.

I LOVE this full moon. It feels like an invitation to look into the great cosmic mirror and see the best version of who you are. Pretty cool, right? Thing is though doing so can bring up some hard truths.

Because, if you really lean into this, you will likely face some serious self talk rooted in judging yourself. But here’s the amazing part, as you ease up on those judgments, you start to see more of what’s possible for you, and you’ll project less of those judgements out into the world so you judge others less harshly as well as yourself. Accepting yourself and accepting other people is a spiral dance, one inspires the other. They feed each other.

So the energy of this full moon feels like a launch pad. My advice is to get ready for takeoff by letting it be a time to remember the truth, remember who you really are. Notice something in you that you respect and admire and let that give you the inspiration and courage to let go of some judgment that holds you back and keeps you from realizing your aspirations.

You’re amazing. Feel it.

Have a beautiful full moon.
