Super New Moon on 15 November 2020

I’m remembering a day I decided to clean out my stuffed bedroom closet. I thought I could just pull out a few things, move stuff around and somehow that would be enough. Rookie mistake.

After much frustration, I surrendered. I emptied the closet got everything out and immediately felt overwhelmed. Ugh. Why did I do this. Now I have to deal with all this stuff. In that moment, I realized this was about more than just my closet.

I began the thoughtful work of deciding what to keep and what to let go. I was surprised at how much stuff didn’t make it back in and I loved how easy it was to use and enjoy what did.

Last month was an invitation to start digging into our spiritual closets, letting go of what doesn’t work for us anymore. This month urges us to go a bit deeper, and brings a big payoff for doing so.

New moons are about beginnings and renewal. This Scorpio new moon on Sunday, 15 November 2020 offers us the opportunity to see through the layers of personality and rebuild from our soul.

There can be multiple reasons why pain lingers. One of those reasons is that we stay attached to painful ways of seeing ourselves. It becomes less about what someone did and more about telling ourselves we are not beautiful or lovable.

It’s not just what other people do that reinforces negative self talk. Sometimes, instead of seeing how far we’ve come, we may beat ourselves up for our choices, tell ourselves we are not worthy of abundance, believe that we’ve wasted chunks of our lives or that we’ve missed the boat on something we want so much.

The most powerful thing you can do for this new moon is to choose a wound you carry, and allow yourself to fully admit to yourself why you feel hurt. Look below the actions of someone else and see if you can notice is an underlying belief about yourself that you have been carrying. Chances are your mind used their action to reinforce that negative belief.

Use the extra support of the new moon to create a new beginning based on a belief that is more loving and do at least one thing to reinforce the loving belief. Ask for something you want, try something even if you could fail. Start a mental list of your best qualities.

It’s okay if you’re not able to immediately shift to the replacement belief. Letting go is a process and even recognizing the need to let something go is a step forward and creates the foundation for your new start.

I’ll share more about this period of transformation we are in when I discuss the full moon at the end of the month.

Spoiler alert: it will feel like you can exhale, like you can put down something heavy that you have been carrying for a long time. You’ll feel like you can breathe again.

The new beginning you create with this super new moon by facing these deeper truths will bring you to a full moon experience of faith in yourself and joyful release.
